History

Overfishing, pollutions, contaminations are just a few examples that we are facing globally. Many countries have been dealing with these problems but most of them failed or are still failing. This is problem is due to one specie: the humans.

But there is hope.

So what can we do about this problem? Well we can start by being aware. Acknowledging these problems and taking actions against them will help you understand what these problems can do to our lovely planet. But how? Very simple: choose for more sustainable resources like bio or another clean label product, such as Tunimi

Tunimi is going to revolutionize the fish industry by offering the first environmental friendly and clean label tuna. Tunimi is a substitute of a tuna steak and has the same color, taste and texture as a regular tuna. Tuna species are highly demanded, overfished and poorly processed inside of the fish industry. For each tuna caught: only 40% is used/ sold inside of the food industry, 60 % is waste. This is a major problem because this means that almost the half of the fish is thrown away. We at Tunimi turn every kg of "waste" (Fish Meat) into 5 kg high quality tuna product. But Tunimi took 1 step further. Bycatch has been a problem over the last couple of years. Since January 2015 every fishing vessel in Europe is obliged to bring all the fish to land including certain bycatch fishes. Many fisheries  couldn't handle this problem and this resulted in many discussions. These fishermen didn't know what to do with this waste until Tunimi came. We use the proteins from these bycatch fish and transfer them into our product. All these litlle fish would normally be thrown away or turned into low quality pet meal or fertilizer. People do forget that all these little fish are rich of omega 3 oils and young dna. Therefor are these little fish a perfect ingredient for a healthy meal/diet. Theire is one more important factor to consider and that is the fact

tuna is a toxic fish. This is due to his diet. Tuna species have a rich diet of different small to medium sized fishes. These fish consume daily small dose of radiation, mercury and different other toxic substances. By eating small doses of toxic fishes regularly, tuna became one of the most toxic fishes in the sea.  The coloring was a major issue as well. In order to obtain the same color as a natural tuna we decided to invest into a high quality natural color. We have deliberally chosen not to use any E-numbers due to fact that these are unhealthy and proven that they can cause diseases like autism, ADHD and many more.

Tunimi contains less mercury and other heavy metals or toxins then natural tuna and has more nutrional value due to the abundance of young fish proteins.

Tunimi steaks are therefore more healthy than the natural tuna.
